MY BEST MEMORY

On the past 15 years I have been here in Valle Verde School has been the best time of my life, and most of all this last year, we the seniors. They say that this last year at school is the best year of all because not also you are the biggest at school. We have the mental thoughts that we rock school and that school is the best and more because we are the biggest of the entire school. But they say that we have to take advantage of all moments when we are at school because at the university its a total different thing comparing to school, its another type of life with more responsabilities.
I have a lot of good memories during all my life during school and one of the best has been on secondary, one of my best years its 10th grade but also 11 and obviously 12 grade has been one of the best too.
I have a lot of friends, but there is only one friend whose relationship is very special and true to me. Her name is Trang, and I will always remember her as the best friend of my entire life. Three years ago, Trang and I met in English class when we were both seniors in high school. My first impression of Trang was that she always had a happy smiling face, and her long, black, straight hair covered her shoulder. Everyday, as I approached my seat, I passed by her. “Hi,” Trang’s friendly voice said.

I do not think my best memory of my life has approached me yet. However, I feel my high school years have been the most memorable. I strongly believe that high school is the open door, into the rest of my life.
Now that I’ve done all those things and many more, I am about to embark on a new adventure that will take me too many more new experiences. From sports to girls to all the partying, I just wanted to know what everything was like. I cannot believe that it has come this fast.
From being an inexperienced sophomore to a somewhat mature senior, things have really changed for me. Some say that “high school was the best time of my life”, just like others say that high school was the worst time in their lives. Realistically, I do not know what the world out there holds for me. All I can do is enter it with a guarded optimism and hope for the best. I will leave high school as a world-weary senior, knowing that there are many dangers to encounter in the real world. I was just dying to experience all the new and exciting things that awaited me. I’ve had plenty of good times, as well as just as many bad times, in high school. And the most important thing is that, not just that I learned through the books, but I learned about life and the road ahead of me. I started high school as a brash and cocky athlete, dying to conquer the world, which I did not know much about. The only thing I can say is that I learned. To be honest, I am not sure which category I fall into.
Having just finished high school, some of my most memorable experiences are also some of my most recent ones. I had many opportunities to get involved in academics, as well as athletics. I chose to participate in basketball, football, and track. As a team member, I learned some valuable lessons to help me progress throughout life. One experience I will never forget was a football game that helped me deal with disappointment.

THERE`S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

How do you feel about home? Are you dying to get away, or do you hope you never have to leave?
My home is the most beautiful place i have seen, you are talikng about my home I love it, I will give my entire life for it, and if someone moves me to another place I could end up devastated. I hope I could never leave from here because is the place where I grow up since baby I was born here and live all my life here, all my memories are here and if somebody take my house away from me I could die. and also one good thing is that is on a great place, we have all nerby and in the reach of our hands everything we want. So to end it, I love my house with all my heart and nobody can take me away from here.

ROTTEN TO THE CORE?

Violence near my house is increising, for example more and more women are being killed by strangers with no reason. Femicides, the crime where women are murdered because they are women are increasing in Guatemala. Everyday two women are brutally killed in the country, without almost any efforts to stop it or find the perpetrators. It is my opinion that conceptions and notions surrounding the gender identities are crucial in trying to understand the murders, motives and impunity which the murders are characterized by. That is why I have chosen to take a closer look on the femicides in Guatemala and especially it?s relation to the female gender identities in the country. Placing femicides in a gendered continuum of violence gives me the opportunity to discuss the crime in terms of social, economical and political violence. Together with theories surrounding gender, nation and identity femicides can be connected to the notion of female identities through power discourses surrounding gender. It becomes highly visible that the Guatemalan civil war is crucial in understanding today?s gender identities because wars affect identities fundamental, and especially a conflict that lasted for over three decades. During armed conflicts the perception of ?manhood? and ?womanhood? becomes essential in discourses related to the nation and the national identity. But as my thesis will show, the Mayan people, and especially the Mayan women came to symbolise the enemy through her breeding of ?difference? which resulted in brutal assaults by the Guatemalan army. In my thesis I will show how gender identities can become visible through placing femicides in a wider perspective and by analysing the power and gender discourses surrounding the crime.

Dear friend:

A warm late summer afternoon on a leafy street in an area colonised by fashionable cafes and shops came to an abrupt end when the peace was shattered by a raw, terrifying eruption of gang violence this week.

Armed with spades, screwdrivers, bars and sticks, two gangs clashed and sent locals fleeing into shops for safety. It was awful and very scared, So im writing you this letter to be careful on anytime you go out of your house. And besides that, here near my neighborhood are killing a lot of women so please bne careful with that too.

I hope you take responsability for this letter and take some actios, and please let know all of your friends and the people you care the most.

Sincerely,

cristy

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

MAD FOR LOVE

Briefly summarize the emotions the speaker experiences during Porphyria’s Lover. For example, in the first ten lines his heart is breaking as he listens for Porphyria’s arrival, and then he relishes the warmth and cheer she creates.
the author is in love with the girl who comes to his home when all the raining and thunders are outside, he wants her to go to his house, he is waiting for her. He is happy when she arrives, then he becomes confused because he does not want her to leave and he does not know what to do.

Then he knows what to do to make her stay, he kills her. then he is happy because he gets to be with the one he loves, and she cannot leave. he does not regret what he did, and he does not feel like he did something wrong.

Why do you think the speaker murders his beloved?
he was crazy, and he doesnt wants that anybody know her, she was only for him, but i think it is a really strange poem and how the author explains all, this is the most weird poem i had ever read.

LOVE WITHOUT LIMITS

Use words, symbols, sketches, or images to create a collage that summarizes the content of Sonnet 43 and communicates the emotions presented in it.

Do you think that the emotions presented in this sonnet are universal? Why or why not?
Yes are universal, because hen you are really in love you can be in a position that you could die for that person who you are in liove, you can do the impossible things for that person that you loved. Love is universal and all humans could feel it, and that is why soemtimes people get married because they want to spend the rest of their lives with that person who you are in love with. Love is beautiful and an awesome feeling.

The most famous line in Sonnet 43 is “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways”. Why do you think this line is so popular? Because explains how huge is the love she feels for her partner. And explains the way or ways she loves her partner.

LOVE AND LOSS

TEARS, IDLE TEARS

List three adjectives that the speaker uses to describe the past and explain how the adjectives are different or similar. Briefly state the tone of the poem. What does the speaker believe is precious about the past?
- Dear as remembered kisses after death
-Sad as the last which reddens over one
- Fresh as the first beam glittering on a sail

-Do you think the speaker had a joyous or miserable past? Why?
I think the tone of the poem toward the past is the same as the adjectives describing it. The speaker believes the past is precious because it is fresh, sad, strange, dear, sweet, and deep. I think the speaker’s past was not completely joyous but it was not miserable, I think he is happy about the past he had and he misses it, like he would like to go back and enjoy what he enjoyed again.

THE POWER OF NATURE

Close to the sun in lonely lands” (From The Eagle: A Fragment)
He is talking about how the eagle is so close to the sun, because it lives at the top of the mountains, yet it lives by itself and in loneliness.
“(If) I could understand what you are… I should know what God and man is” (From Flower in the Crannied Wall)
The author refers to how he believes that if he gets to understand a flower, a plant, then he will be able to understand humanity.
What is the speaker’s attitude toward nature in each poem?
The authors attitude toward nature is that he admires it. He is dazzled by it and he hopes to find answers to his questions by understanding nature.
In what ways are the two poems different?
On both poems each one of them has a different tone on Tears Idle Tears the author thinks that the past is precious and on the other hand on The power of Nature the authors admires the nature, something totally different from the first poem. But still both talk about nature, but one is about an animal and other one is about a plant.

SHATTERING GLASS

After reading “
The Lady of Shalott“, what associations do you have with the following words from the poem? Use words, symbols or images to communicate the ideas or emotions you associate with each of the following poem.
Explain the meaning of the above words in the context of the poem
All of them are the reflect of a person, in this case Lady of Shallot.

Why do you think the Lady of Shalott becomes “half sick” of the shadows she sees in the mirror?
because she is seing like herself but in other position and then she starts thinking why this things happends, so that is why half sick… by looking to a mirror you obviously see yourself… so you can say its  your other half. So thats why it says half sick, her other half of the soul we can say.

SHADOWS OF THE PAST

How can tears be “idle” -can you cry without knowing why?
At some moment yes, tears can be idle, crying can be idle, in most of the example on women because we tend to cry more than men. Sometimes we just want to cry out loud and we do not know why and we dont care anything at all. It is a way to take out all the bad things of your soul I think. Crying with no reason is cleaning up all the bad and wrong things of your soul and heart, to clean it all up and then to start being nice and kind and lover with other people.

What do you think the “divine despair” is in line 2? Could you relate it to Adam and Eve’s fall in Genesis -would that story explain the speaker’s existential sadness?

because on the first line he explain that he doesn know where the tears come from and why, so on the second line he add that maybe could be from some divine despair, he is trying to find out from where the tears come from and why.

Does the contradiction in the phrase “Death in Life” (line 20) make sense to you? Explain. What is your response to this line? Have you ever felt this way?

at some point yes maybe, because are soem days that you are crying for something or just wishing for the days no more. Wishing to not live more, and you just cry, but he is making the contradiction because before he talks about how life is and why we cry. Maybe I have felt this way at some point. to live no longer and I just feel all alone and not loved by others. Could be moments that people could feel this way. Death in Life.

SWEPT AWAY

Have you ever experienced the sublime aspect of nature? When? Freewrite about the scene and your emotions.
For example I can start by looking to the beautiful things taht nature do. Last week I saw a picture of a pregnent woman but the little foot of the baby was totally marked on her stomach, was so amazing, because the foot was so marked and esay to look, was amazing. I was paralized of the increidible things nature does.
the woman was almost to take out the baby so the stomach bas very big, so with more reason, the foot was so well market and so amazing, I cant believe it yet.
The most amazing thing is that all the time while we are thinking that we aren’t awake, we already are, and we are just confining ourselves from experiencing it through our thoughts about it.
The most amazing thing is how we already have everything that we ever hoped for or wanted, and one day we just realize it! It was this all along that we were looking for. All those desires and aversions were just signposts leading us to where we already stood. Right here.
The most amazing thing is if we look deeply into anything, we can learn everything we ever needed, ever wanted and beyond, just from being fully there, right in it.
The most amazing thing, is that of all the things in our lives that we think are problems, barriers, or are somehow in our way, that it all is our way. They are the way, for us, for this moment, and as such are exactly perfect, no matter how bad they may appear.

THE TEST OF TIME

Suppose you’re a creator. Among architecture, sculpture, music, and literature, which do you think offers the most promise of an enduring monument? Explain your answer.
the art that offers the most promise of an enduring monument on my opinion are most of all architecture, sculpture, and a little of literature, Why? architectire is the base to built anything, and back in times most of the workers where architectures, also sculpture give the theme to the monuments, if not now in days all the monuments woculd not have sense at all. and literature also because on base with that, back in times architectures and sculpture built their things, leading up to literature and all their believes, thoughts, etc.

Irony is the discrepancy between expectations and reality. Explain the fundamental irony in the sonnet.
the irony of this poem is that all that is mentiones, and how all the stones on the middle of the dessert where done, seems to be not real but time passed and all this things start to appear and become reality, the only thing is that sometimes scientists dont know what it means. But still the irony is that is that the explanations seems not real but at the end is truth and all happens.

Discuss what you think is the speaker’s message about pride -and whether it also applies to artists.
it mention the message that was writen at the top of the monument, that shows pride because he explain that the one who built it put that message showing pride that he was the king and the one who built that, to be remembered.

Could this poem apply to any contemporary figures who wield political power? Explain.
yes , because the message that is in top of the monument remebles power and how poeple govern and so is now, the political powers who have all the power and cotrol, but now is resebled on a different way.

THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

This poem has been criticized as sentimental and dependent on clichés. Tell me whether or not you agree and why.

this poem talk about a woman an her beauty, in my personal opinion the poem is very sentimental and dependent on cliches, in the entire poem talks about the beautness of the women and how this men look at the woman. Thats why it is called the eyed of the beholder, he is waiting for that person, he is in love with that woman. And he look so deeply into his eyes to that beautiful woman. He is waiting for her and also he describe so deeply her characteristics and how she is.

Do you think that inward nature can be revealed by outward appearances? Explain.

yes, and mostly in nature, outward apperances of nature can be revealed very esaily, you just look and you can appreciate all the wonderful things of nature. Sometimes things that occur in nature are inexplicable for humans and that is the point were inward nature apperances cant be explained they way we wanted. Nature has its beautiful things to appreciate and explained but at the same time it has his misterious things that humans can even explian what that things happened.

WATER WATER EVERYWHERE

“The sun came up upon the left,
Out of the sea came he!
And he shone bright, and on the right
Went down into the sea.”

Everyday when I wake up and go to take a shower I always think like this is a new day the sun is already rised and always think positively to have a great day! and be happy all day! every day its a new beginning.

All in a hot and copper sky,
The bloody Sun, at noon,
Right up above the mast did stand,
No bigger than the Moon.”

There are no more beatufil things than the moon and the sun! live everyday like it was the last one, rest at night to wake up on a good mood and well rested from the day after. Try always to take advantage of everything you do.

The souls did from their bodies fly,–
They fled to bliss or woe !
And every soul, it passed me by,
Like the whizz of my cross-bow !”

Be the one that who you are, I always try to be myself in every ocation and every situation. I try not to imitate others and gain others personality, I alyas try to be myself and have my own personality. That is the way everyone know me.

“Alone, alone, all, all alone,
Alone on a wide wide sea !
And never a saint took pity on
My soul in agony.

Sometimes on some situations I feel alone like I dont care to anybody. I dont feel loved by others. But soemtimes is just me, I feel things that are not true. So sometimes I just fell alone.
