SHADOWS OF THE PAST

How can tears be “idle” -can you cry without knowing why?
At some moment yes, tears can be idle, crying can be idle, in most of the example on women because we tend to cry more than men. Sometimes we just want to cry out loud and we do not know why and we dont care anything at all. It is a way to take out all the bad things of your soul I think. Crying with no reason is cleaning up all the bad and wrong things of your soul and heart, to clean it all up and then to start being nice and kind and lover with other people.

What do you think the “divine despair” is in line 2? Could you relate it to Adam and Eve’s fall in Genesis -would that story explain the speaker’s existential sadness?

because on the first line he explain that he doesn know where the tears come from and why, so on the second line he add that maybe could be from some divine despair, he is trying to find out from where the tears come from and why.

Does the contradiction in the phrase “Death in Life” (line 20) make sense to you? Explain. What is your response to this line? Have you ever felt this way?

at some point yes maybe, because are soem days that you are crying for something or just wishing for the days no more. Wishing to not live more, and you just cry, but he is making the contradiction because before he talks about how life is and why we cry. Maybe I have felt this way at some point. to live no longer and I just feel all alone and not loved by others. Could be moments that people could feel this way. Death in Life.
